then how come others make it their job to?

hmm? I would like to know who bestowed them with this awesome privilege ... was it God himself? I think not.

what do you believe?

And even if what we do is a sin..wouldn't it be fair to say that everyone is in sin AND we all have the same ability to be saved regardless of our sin?

Then please tell me...

What gives them the right to judge?

Some people are so afraid of their own sins that they do what they can to point out the sins of others.... it's the "see how much worse you are than I am" syndrome. Of course, by doing so, they are also breaking Christ's greatest command.... to love your neighbor as yourself. If they treat you horribly, think of how bad they must truly think of themselves. Pray for them.

And you're right... only God can judge us. ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but Christ's blood sacrifice provides salvation for ALL the world -- from ALL sin.

Ok basically (in reality) humans are animals and god knows that. The only way for God to keep the world running and people living is by judging us. If we as humans don't have a fear of being judge the world would be chaos, we will kill eachother I mean is bad enough with these wars. Imagine if people didn't have a fear everything will be crazy because people will be crazy. The fact that we are going to be judge is a good thing and God created this for a reason. Think about it a person that wants to commit suicide will think it over very thoroughly before attempting anything for the fear of what's next, hell or heaven?

Once again, the question is based on an assumption. What on earth makes you think everyone believes in this "god?"

The only judges that matter in America are found in courts of law. Anyone else has the right to "judge" as they will, and it is not an "awesome privilege." It is often just common sense.

The same goes for "sin." Unless one believes in your "god" then there is no such thing as "sin."

You should investigate some books about philosophy and logic, because it's clear you have little experience with either.

Nothing gives them the right to judge.

The deal is this: They read "xyz" in their particular religious document and assume it must mean that "xyz" means the same thing in 2007 as it did 2000 years and a minimum of two language changes ago. Without even knowing the historical references of the time.

I mean, how many of us can read and UNDERSTAND the original Shakespeare??

I'm from America, but I don't know what a modern American "fritter" is.

It's very hard to even get everyone to do the same thing when you give them all a "How To" instuction sheet. I know - I've written them. And I knew my audience very well.

So the best anyone should do is read for intention (the "spirit") of the document, not the "letter" (literal meaning) of the document.

(And it still doesn't mean what is right for one person is right for another. God has a lot more creatures and planets and galaxies to worry about besides just us little narcissistic humans.)

They are mistakenly judging on BEHALF of God with the full expectation that God endorses them speaking for Him... or Her. It's the same concept that led to "Rule by Divine Right" in the Dark Ages.

They bestowed this auspicious honor on themselves.

If they want to insist that my lifestyle is a sin, then I'd say it's just as much a sin to judge others.

The privilege exists in the mind of those that harbour these thoughts.
I try to make an effort to not judge others but I'm also not naive enough to believe the ignorant does not exist.
Don't think there's a happy ending to this never ending story.

Because they'd like to think they're on par with God. And it makes them feel like they're holier and less sinful than others. Personally, I feel that their bigotry, judgment, and hate are the worse sins. You'd think that true believers could stand resolute in their faith and accept those of different beliefs. In the end, we just have to be the bigger ones and wait for them to catch up. One day they'll learn tolerance. Until then, live your life like they're not here!

You should be asking THEM. I know you are, but lots of luck in getting an answer. Personally, I think it starts with a religious leader who is trying to deny his own homosexuality by railing against gays, or who is simply trying to make a name for himself by championing a safe, pseudo-religious "cause."
