Give Michigan respect for scheduling a two-time back-to-back champions. Suuure, they could have played North Texas (Sooner fans) and won by 100 but they had the balls to go out and play a damn good football team Div 1-AA or 1-A. Appalachian State could have beaten at least half the top 25. Give Michigan respect for having the balls to play a good friggin team. More powerhouses should do the same.

Maybe they should pick a good team in the same division of football. I don't doubt that App St could have beaten a fair number of D1 teams. That said, I won't give credit to Michigan for scheduling them. If you are going down a division you need to win. Period.

There are a lot of teams that schedule weak teams in the non-conference part of the schedule. I am not a fan of that theory either.

Really? Really, really?

I know you're a Michigan fan, but come on man. Let's be realistic here. They might have been better than many conferences bottom three, but they wouldn't even have taken out Wake Forest or FSU nevermind USC, Oklahoma or Texas. Let's look at it this way: Jeff Rankin has a poll where he ranks all teams in division I-A and I-AA and Appy State was 80th. That's ahead of UCF but behind the powerhouse of NC State (49th).

Look, I'm just as upset as the next person when UF loses to some a(&clowns, but at least I'm realistic. You guys played a bad game against Appy State and that's the end. If you can remember, you ALMOST lost to Ball State last year... were they good enough to beat the rest of the Top 25? You'll just have to come to face the truth (just like FSU and Notre Dame fans): Michigan was overrated at the beginning of the year. They'll have to do something drastic to turn the ship around (probably fire Lloyd Carr) because if they play Penn State or even Notre Dame like they played Appy State, they'll be looking at a losing season.

It took balls to schedule a div 1-AA team???
Even the 2 time defending champion is still a 1-AA team.
Michigan lost because they took App St. lightly. App St. hung 28 points on them in the first half before Michigan knew what hit them. When they had a chance to regroup at halftime they held them in check.
Congrats to App St. for seizing the opportunity, but there is no way a 1-AA team should be able to beat a Top 5 team on their home field.
No respect goes out to Michigan. Next time, handle your business.

I agree with you. App. State is a very good team and most teams AP has ranked would be hard pressed to beat them. To further agree with you: Michigan was UNDEFEATED last season until they met OSU. They got no respect for that. Nobody has been talking about that for the last 3 days. Funny thing about that loss last year is that OSU won on a bunch of bunk calls anyway. Michigan deserves to be ranked in the AP 25. When they came out with the rankings I smirked at 5... I thought they should have been 2 or 3. I'm not worried about the Wolverines, they will hold their own. Good comment! GO BLUE!

Ummm, no top 25 team should lose to any !-AA team ever. It is the first time it has ever happened. Yes App State is good in the MAC but should not have been a problem for Michigan. There coach is through and shouldn't last the season. Go Bucks!!

The schedules are done like 5 years in advance. 5 years ago App. St. was not a 2-time defending champ. If they were, michigan would have scheduled someone else.

Come on man stop stretching. Champions or not they should not be able to compete with a team that is Top 5 and looking like they have a shot at a National Title. They are I-AA for a reason. So the AAA minor league champions shouldn't be a big deal when they beat the Yankees or Red Sox? Absurd man, come on...you got outplayed and outworked.
