There are IQ tests which are quite reliable but the best criteria is if the person is able to see an object in 3 dimensions from all sides. For example, if you are looking at your monitor, can you visualise how the other side and the inside would look as well?
When I went to a school for "the gifted and talented" as a teenager, I "passed" the "genius" test and this ability was something that higher thinkers don't really notice because they have nothing to compare it to. Einstein's explanations come to me quite easily and I am often frustrated by things I deem ignorant and have had to learn to be compassionate to those who aren't as intelligent.
It makes life lonely.
Keep in mind, though that abilities and high scores on random IQ tests - and I don't mean testing one's knowledge like what you you see on TV shows like "test the nation's IQ but actual tests that only test a person's ability to take in new information - mean little if those abilities aren't contained within a person who puts them into practice.
There are many people who have exquisite abilities but those abilities are "wasted" by lack of support, opportunities or other factors.
A genius can be a genius but if they're too lazy to open the book to apply that genius, then it is wasted.

I believe it was Albert Einstein who couldn't have said it better: "Genius has no personality".
The geniuses I've encountered were lukewarm.
They didn't think humor was funny; nor tragedy sad. And it's not that they didn't laugh nor cry..
they could feel humor and tragedy, but merely rationalized it through deductive reasoning.
See. geniuses tend to apply logic where natural
reactions or emotions should emerge as a reflex,
or an instinct.
In some child geniuses you'll find they're simply too reserved, poised or composed for their age group. It's almost as if they've decided that acting like a child is too immature for their caliber.
But in other child geniuses the effect to totally
polar. They misbehave because they're not being challenged enough in life, and have figured out
most of the things on their own which adults have to enroll into universities in order to learn. So, all of these unchanneled energies and rotting intellects
are forced to manifest themselves negatively
instead of positively.
Many criminal masterminds are merely geniuses
whom were filtered into society to be made to feel
"weird" and "out-of-place".. and whose intelligent designs went undernourished and unharnessed.
Thus, a monster emerges instead of a productive citizen who uses his or her potentials to touch lives and help to change the world.

Normally an IQ above 139 or membership in MENSA. I don't know if I would mention "genius" on a resume or make it a requirement for recruiting (obviously this is not for the armed forces.)

the hundreds (who in accordance to this quote are stupid) won't understand authentic genius and could as a exchange rebel against it. utilized to a genuine adventure: while a genuine genius (Galileo along with his concept of a solar centric image voltaic equipment) seems in the international you are able to understand him by using this sign, that the dunces (people who do no longer settle for technology) are all in confederacy (non secular institutions) against him.

There is knowledge or genius and then there is wisdom. A true genius has the Knowledge of everything but the wisdom and humility to explain something to an idiot.

It is with sad face that I must inform you that there are no "signs" of a true genius. Most of them work quietly behind the scenes and live ordinary lives. At least that is my opinion.

Someone who has made a good life at a good white-collar job with no formal education. That means that they’re actually getting by on their brains, rather than getting in the door because of their degree.

Well, it ain't using two honorifics which in effect, cancel each other out. Esquire means 'mister'..and it is not used with another honorific such as 'Dr.' Same as using 'Esq.' for 'Sir Elton John.' (as an example only) Ya don't say Sir Elton John esquire...you can't be both.
