Why should we hear about body bags, and deaths...I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?

Mrs. Bush said that prior to her son attacking Iraq. Maybe she ought to be made to sit down and watch each and every body bag as it comes off the airplane from Iraq. No one wants to see the unpleasantness of war. She doesn't and neither does anyone else but hiding it or sugar coating it merely adds to the horror of it all once the veil is removed and people can see the reality of it all. So she thinks she has a beautiful mind. Hardly so, she reared Dubya didn't she?

I would like to hear what the context was first (and a confirmation she actually said this).
However, I have heard her say similarly thoughtless things before. For example, when she said that the Katrina victims living in the Astrodome in Houston were in better shape than they were before the hurricane hit.
One note, there is a common feeling that GW Bush is HER son, more than Papa Bush's. This is the attitude that fosters our president.

Can you tell she's the shrub's mom? As long as they remain 101% convinced of the correctness of their family's actions; They can just shut their eyes and ears and be content to ignore the price so many people pay for their decisions...

Yes, I don't want to hear about body bags and death either. It doesn't bring them back and " I would rather eat some cheese, drink some wine and catch some rays." You can quote me, just don't tell anyone that it was actually Donald Sutherland, in the Movie, Kelly's Hero's, unless of course, I am Donald Sutherland then you can quote me on it.

My first thought was, "there is no way she would have said something like that", and then I looked it up.
Yep.
She said it.
Wow.

It was taken out of context. It goes into more depth here.

It's Kafkaesque. We put people in power who are so ignorant and utterly stupid, and it's seriously depressing that they literally have people's lives in their hands, and their souls are utterly black.
