THE INTRODUCTION:

In 1775, the King declared Americans in arms to be traitors to the crown. As a result America declared war on Britain. The outnumbered Americans struggled tremedously to win battles against the greatest army in the world. Even though America were losing most of the battles, they declared their independence in 1776. It was unexpected and suprising on how America became an independent counrty after being defeated frequently. Is our conception of our forefathers accurate? That if we had secretly prepared and constructed a more obedient army before declaring a rebellion against the king, then it would have caused our country less suffering. David McCullough's novel '1776' suggests that our forefathers and leaders of the Revolutionary War had a greater lack of experience, discipline, and certainty than history has led us to believe, causing many unnecessary defeats in battle.

Well one big problem is that the statement "America declared war on Britain" is factually inacurate. In the first place there was no America, just a collecton of colonies and the Continental Congress and in the second place no declaration of war was made.

I'd change the sentence beginning with "That" to "If we had secretly. . ., would it have caused our country less suffering?"
