Virginia Tech has a good chance to me. Their defense will keep the game close. And their conservative offens does not make too many mistakes. This very well could end up a defense stalemate type of game. I think it's up to their special teams to make a big play. I feel like all Sean Glennon can be expected to do is manage the game and don't make mistakes. They can win this game. And how great of a story would that be? Maybe greater than Appalachian State over Michigan.........who knows?

sorry about that. I was saying to the guy that was talking about ECU and how supposedly bad they are. Look back at this teams history. Last year they gave the West Virginia Mountaineers, loaded with White and Slaton hell. They WVU hell in that game. And a few years back they beat Miami when they were still...y'know...Miami. Winning national titles with Coker and what-not.

With me and 94,000 of my best friends drunk off of our asses with an 8:30 pm kick off, VT has no chance. Seriously, LSU will win in a not so close game. Bet on it.

It is simple Miss State lost the game cause every time they would get a little momentum Hennig would force a pass and it would get picked. As long as Glennon can throw as many touchdowns as he does ints they have a good chance, Brandon Ore is a better back than that of Miss State, O-Line cant give up 5 sacks, it will be hard but it is possible.

Texas beat what was a unbeatable USC team in the 05 Rose Bowl, Tenn beat a national tittle CAL team last year 35-18, Kansas State beat an OU team in 03 that was OMFG good.

It can happen and i want to put money on it.

As for LSU overconfidence is what will lose this game for them cause on paper they are head and shoulders above everyone cept SC. If They get a big lead early like 17-0 they will win if not then VT has all the ingrediants for the upset.

Two things...

First, it's very possible that Tech will beat LSU. Possible, but not probable. LSU's offense looked average in certain parts of their game against MSU -- sure they scored 45 points, but it was against Mississippi State for pete's sake. Their defense, however, is amazing.

Second, it won't be a great upset. We're talking about the number 9 team in the country playing the number 2 team and when two top-ten ranked teams play, it's not really a huge upset. Appy State is a I-AA school and was ranked no higher than 80 in the Rankin's poll (which meshes both I-A and I-AA), while Michigan was ranked 7th in that same poll. THAT'S an upset. Clemson over Florida State (as overrated as they are) was an upset. UCF over NC State was an upset... Heck, you could even consider Georgia Tech over Notre Dame an upset... but VT over LSU? Not that big of an upset, if you ask me.

The keys to VT is to force LSU's offense to make huge mistakes that give them field position. I highly doubt Tech will be able to move the ball much against LSU's defense, so they'll need the extra help from special teams and turnovers. If Tech can't force the offense to commit penalties and turnovers, I think LSU is going to smoother VT... but it's possible that Tech can prevail... I just don't think it's very probably.

Although the media would absolutely love it if Tech won, to overcome adversity and bring healing to the town and all that (which I think is BS, how many sportswriters/announcers actually care about the victims and how many are just using it as a filler for articles and cheesy tributes during down-time?) LSU has the better team and will trounce them. It might be close for a half but LSU will turn it up after that and win by at least 17.

There is a great deal of understandable sympathy for VT, but anyone that saw their home opener knows they are heavily overrated. They struggled offensively against a very middle of the road team from a weak conference. Their offensive line play was terrible. They gave up over five sacks and they had trouble run blocking. To make matters worse one of their starters on the line was injuried, so there is no sign that things are going to get better. They also had poor play from their QB. Even the defense which has been a staple of VT football over the years was inconsistent and uninspired at times. ECU ran the spread offense which confused and frustrated the Hokies D throughout the game. If ECU with low tier athletes could give VT a competitive game I find it hard to believe they are going to be able to match up with a stronger and more athletic opponent. LSU plays in one of the toughest conferences in football and they went on the road and stomped a conference opponent. The bottomline is VT is in big trouble this weekend.

VTdoes it's best work when it is a clear underdog. Still I was not impressed by their first game. Glennon has improved from last year, but he will have to throw the ball away when pressed, and not be sacked or otherwise lose yardage. I don't know if he has figured that out yet. I believe VT's defense can stand up to LSU's offense and keep the points low, but, the VT offensive line may not be up to the job against the LSU defense. Blocking for the running back, and holding the pocket for the passing game will have to improve by a light year, to keep VT's offense from throwing out the game.

As a Hokie, I can only hope, LSU's defense comes to the field with major hangovers.

Tough defense and no turn overs. Stay out of 3rd and long situations. If they can hold the line and take a few shots deep down field, I think they got a chance. LSU cheats up its safeties a bit and if VT can establish a running game, they may be able to catch the Tigers napping.

My upset special of the week VT goes to LSU and upset the #2 rank team in the nation 21 to 14. LSU have a great defense but VT have a better defense than LSU, remember last year VT is #1 in total defense and they're got most of the same players on that defense comeback this year.

If Glennon can keep his head on straight, I think they have an awesome chance. You know, Tech only plays as good as who they are playing so the opener is really no indication of their playing. If I could have gotten off of work, I would have went to the game. LET'S GO HOKIES!!!

I don't think anything would be a greater story than Appy beating Michigan, that was just awesome! I almost got in the car and drove to Boone just to watch the celebration on that end. I heard it was wild. Just imagine if they had played there.
