What are the current trends in Manga,and Anime?

There seems to be a KATA with this art form;underlying principles.

Are we talking about the trends in the art of drawing or the content. I'm not an expert in the art of drawing manga but as far as for contents, the trend is still shonen with very attractive characters and personality, with comedy and romance as well. Prominent example will be Naruto and Bleach that offers a wide arrray of characters each with different background which the mangaka will show at some point of the story. Also, main focus is still action but with angst, romance and comedy element. ^_^
