Elizabeth married a Greek prince - and he is a member of the Church of England. Their marriage was approved by the Privy council, just like Charles and Diana's was.
Actually, Diana could have married Dodi - the crown had no way to stop her. It would have been an unacceptable union to the Church of England, because he wasn't a member.

The queen's Greek had a royal bloodline. Dodi didn't. His family history involved commerce (considered lowly to Bluebloods).
Besides, how would it look if a commoner was actually a better husband than Prince Charles?

If I am correct Prince Philipp was banished from his greek throne. Or at least his family has been banished. If history serves me right, he became British so that he could serve in the British Navy. From which Prince Philipp made a career for himself. Nevertheless, with Dodi and being Muslim I think that had certainly something to do with. And I do not agree with the Archbishop of England who said in Di's memorial service, to let her body be left alone and rest in peace. I still think the old fart Philip had something to do with Di's deadth.

Although Phillip is Greek, he's from a royal bloodline. Had Elizabeth come hom to her parents and told them she wanted to marry a non-royal, non Christian muslim playboy, they'd never have allowed it. If William were to come home with a non-Christian, non-royal, Muslim rich girl, yout can bet your life the Queen would put the kibosh on it FAST.
