Sorry to put this up in the Football arena, but I want to know what real Englishmen think of the current situation. I am American and I know it is different in Europe because you have so many countries so close in proximity. I am completely disturbed by the choices terrorists make in changing political views. Killing and creating fear is the work of the devil and not any religion...

We know that there are terrorists operating in parts of this country even now as we speak.
Since you asked this question in the football section I can answer by telling you that it would not come as a massive surprise if we were to hear that certain football grounds had been earmarked as potential terrorist targets.
The idea of an outrage happening at a football ground, unless you work for the secret services',does not even bear thinking about.
Today, all we can do is be vigilant and to understand that some of the little things that we were once able to do, i.e leaving luggage/bags unattended, taking certain items on commercial flights,we cannot do and rightly so.
It is a dangerous world right now and the enemy is much too close to home for our liking.

You're right... you should be sorry to post that in the football category.

Do you harbour the suspicion that "real Englishmen" (and what a suspicious turn of phrase that is...what are you trying to suggest, I wonder ?) are so obsessed with football that they have no interest in the politics category, where this question actually belongs.

And besides, I'm not too sure you'll get a lot of "real Englishmen" here. A lot of kids and adolescents from absolutely everywhere, but probably only a few English people over the age of 25.

The straight, and patently obvious, answer to your question is "they may or they may not. Who can say for sure? That is what terrorism is all about...sowing the seeds of fear and worry" Which is something, I might point out, that your question also does unwittingly. But we put up with terrorism from the IRA for twenty five years, so this is nothing new.

And by the way, you may indeed be "completely disturbed by the choices terrorists make"..but that is surely their whole intention, is it not?

I look at it this way. Terrorist attacks do happen, as we all know.
However, to live in Fear of one happening is a phobia, just the same as the fear of flying because you might crash.
Both the British/American Politicians and Media have fanned the Flames of these fears for their own reasons, which is a whole different topic
So, don't live in fear because the chances are you'll never even see a real live terrorist attack. let alone be in the middle of one.
I live in Manchester which was attacked by the IRA about 12 years ago. I didn't see it and it was only 7 miles away from where i slept.
But your right, when you say its Evil that's to blame but they do it in the name of Religion which is sad for the peaceful Muslims.

It is hard to stop someone who is desperate to kill himself and take others along.
If they bombers work in groups, it may be easier (less difficult) to nab them, because where more persons are involved, the higher chances of leaks and suspicions raised.

However, if someone works alone, like the Jackal, then this will be very tough to stop.

I'm sure there are folks plotting as we speak, but there are also security bods looking to stop them.
Main thing is, not to let the 'threat of terror' change your life.
Once you do that, they've won.
