So I have always been really shy but have had a secret desire to perform. Today I bit the bullet and signed up to a 10 week acting class. Now I'm a little scared as I don't know what to expect. I just turned 18 so I was too old for the youth drama and had to settle for adult. I'm scared that I will be the worst in the class and everyone will be older and more confident. Has anyone here gone to acting classes before. What was the atmosphere like. Did you feel at ease. I'm starting to regret signing up but I also know that if I back out know I'll never do it.

You shouldn't be worried... An acting class is not where you show off your skills, but to grow and learn.

I have always been shy and when i started acting i saw a different light to myself. Acting will give you the confidence you need and help you be able to mingle with the other people on the course. These sort of people will always make you feel welcome and accepted so seriously dont worry and enjoy yourself. when you come out you will feel like a completely different person.
I started off as the shy girl and now i have won plenty of awards for best drama exam results in school. be yourself and relax.

Have fun and good luck.

I do tons and tons of acting, and I've taken tons of classes and been in lots of plays and movies. The main thing is stay confident.Don't panic.Be yourself and relax! When I started doing plays I was really scared that I would do something wrong. Then after a couple of rehersals I was talking to everyone,I felt as if I knew them all,but I'd only seen them a couple of times. So rememer be yourself and dont get nervous.Good luck! Have fun.Oh and just to let you know I homeschool and all of my friends come from theatre. So have a great time! Love ya lots and lots!

Hey, no sweat, If you signed up for begining acting you will not be much different from the rest. So what is the name of the class you signed up for and what is the name and city of the school? It is the teacher's job to put you at ease so you learn. I am a retired actor and professor who helps aspiring actors, write to me at my aol address in my profile. I'd like to help. I do not charge anything.

If you really want it (performing) then just focus on your classes.. never mind your shyness or what others would think or say about you.. It's nice that you have taken the first step.. later on you will be comfortable with what you will be doing..and yes.. you'll never know what will happen.. so enjoy.. i wish you luck..
