Absolutely! I honestly think High School is too late for beginning sex education, most *kids* start having sex at the age of 12... some even younger.. Kids actually start exploring there gentitalia as young as 2 or 3.. then 5 and 6 they really start to get curious about boy and girl differences... They see moms and dads kiss.. so education must start at home.. "Learning about sex should not occur in one all-or-nothing session. It should be more of an unfolding process, one in which the child learns, over time, what she needs to know. Questions should be answered as they arise so 'that the child's natural curiosity is satisfied as she/he matures.

As far as education in school.. I think it should probably start about the same time boys and girls start to hit puberty, which is usually between 4th and 5th grade..

My opinion would be that Kids having sex education in High school, well they have all most likely already done the educating themselves.... I believe it should start in 5th grade... have it become a 3 year course.. I don't know but something has to be done to lower the teen pregnancy and std rate that is SKY ROCKETING among 'High School Students'!!

As far as LEARNING to put a condom on a fake penis, I would rather see it perfected by doing it this way, rather than the frustration of not getting it right when it comes to the real deal and then not using one at all due to lack of knowledge and skill...

I think that sex education is a good thing for high school students. I think that educating teens who are becoming sexually active or who are thinking of becoming sexually active is a good way to squash myths...like you can't get pregnant if you have sex in a pool because the chlorine will kill the sperm. Requiring teens to put a condom on a fake penis may be going a little too far, especially if it is front of the whole class. Instead, the teacher could demonstrate or give out instructions similar to those printed inside the condom box.

You can look at it in two different ways. First, they can develop their knowledge on safe sex. Especially for guys they need to learn how to put on a condom properly as there were cases in the past where bad things happen just because they fail to do so. On the other hand, there may be students who take for granted the knowledge and being very young and curious they would want to try the real thing for themselves.

There is always two sides to a coin. :)

I think it's great, and I wish that my school would have offered sex ed when I was in high school.

Sex is not dirty or taboo, and it shouldn't be treated this way. High school aged kids are obviously going to be curious about sex, so why not answer their questions for them so that you KNOW they're getting accurate information?

If the facts are not taught, then they will continue basing their sexual knowledge off of things they see on TV, hear from friends, etc.

If the kids are well-informed, they will make better decisions. Learning the facts isn't going to make anyone want to have sex anymore than they already do.

I think this is going too far. This is just short of showing them how to "put it in". Since this type of sexual education has been practiced, it directly coincides with statistical data of epidemic porportions of STD's.

I think it`s appropriate for middle school students....no younger. I don`t think 4 graders should hear sexual content from a stranger, I think they should get it from their parents.
