using cell phones while driving is illegal but its called the nextel cup. i see some what of what your saying and it is ironic, although i don't think any racing league is trying to promote drunk driving.

Because people who watch races usually like to watch while having a beer or two. Also, its great advertising for beer companies. They get to reach their target market which are mainly, but not limited to, males aged 20-40.

I've always wondered the same thing, to an extent.
NASCAR did away with tobacco sponsorships because it encourages young people to want to smoke.
But yet, they push their alcohol sponsorships heavily. If tobacco on a racecar makes kids want to smoke, why doesn't beer on a racecar make kids want to drink?
And to the best of my knowledge, no one has been killed in a "smoking and driving" accident, because they were under the influence of nicotine. Alcohol on the other hand? You get the idea.

We always have a Bevvy or two when at a race, but not the ones they advertise lol. The alcohol companies use F1 as a world wide advertising board that's all.

Well they aren't drinking it like before the race and while driving it so I don't understand your logic. So does a herpes medicine sponsoring something mean that everyone has herpes or will get herpes from the event?
