I've just made a soccer banner for my daughter's team made out of felt and fabric. The banner itself is a piece of 4ft X 3ft piece of felt. I know that I should probably just sew on the pieces to really secure the banner, but can I spray something on it to reinforce it (i.e. spray adhesive, scotchguard) that's as strong as sewing the items on there?

I would use Elmer's X-Strength Spray Adhesive

You could try Wonder Under. It'll be in the interfacing section of your craft/fabric store. It basically makes your fabric (in this case the felt) into an iron-on. However, you may still have to stitch around the edges to make sure the letters will stay put.

Spray 77 spray glue available at craft and home improvement stores will do the trick.

I'd suggest a heat-bond mesh, like Stitch-Witchery or similar.

Aleene [TM] also has a flexible fabric glue that's even washable, but it's not as widely available as the steam-bonding mesh.

"Alenes' Okay To Wash It" or other similar glue. JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby will sell it.
