You do not have to change to a job that is unacceptable to you or resign!

You can choose to resign if you let yourself be pushed that way but that would be silly.

It is time to talk to your employer and that doesn't necessarily mean your immediate boss. Speak to someone as high up in the organisation as you can and ask If you're the only person in the company capable of doing the job?

If this is the case then it is reasonable of your employer to ask you to do it. However, if you are being pushed there because no one else will do it then that is against the law.

If it is really a terrible job and you are being pushed into it when others who would be capable are not being considered, and you absolutely feel you could not do it and feel you are being victimised and pressurised into taking it against your will, then there is another option.

You should speak to ACAS who deal with such things at http://www.acas.org.uk They should advise you on exactly what options are open.

You should bear in mind that if you resign and don't have somewhere else lined up you might get no help benefit wise.

I have been there too. Of course you must keep your own sanity, but if like most people you have bills to pay then you must keep your job too. If I were in your position I would start looking for other jobs now, going to interviews etc. However only when you get a firm offer should you resign, not before as you could find yourself unable to find another job and therefore unemployed, which would be even more depressing. Good luck!!

Difficult predicament & have been there myself! I think sanity is more important there's nothing worse then doing a job that you hate it makes you rush your life away by always just waiting for pay day as your not enjoying what your doing!. But oviously money is important so try to look for another job whilst your there even though it can be diffcult to get time to go to other interviews but in the long run it's better as your more employable whilst currently working. Hope it all goes well for you.

carry in long adequate to bypass probation, that is 4-6 months. you could publish with something for that long. then you certainly can request a lateral circulate to a diverse job, branch or despite. You have been very fortunate to get a central authority job, there are constantly hiring freezes going into result. purely get everlasting after which you will touch the branch of workers to get a circulate. you could circulate to a diverse place of work contained in the comparable organization or you could circulate to a diverse organization.

You cannot really be forced to resign can you?
If your existing job is going then you should be entitled to redundancy. I don't believe that you can be pushed into this position.
