Sure. I don't think he was against making plans, but was making a larger statement about taking time to experience and enjoy the present. This is one of my two favorite Lennon songs.

The saying could be very catchy to the mind, but the fact cannot be ignored that life is what we are an indefeasible and vital part of. If there is a majestic design in operation in the universe then we by no means are out of it. What we put into practise is what comes into our mind and that then affects our state of being like echoes of our sound.
