Three of my sisters have experienced this horrible problem after baby has arrived and I don't think doctors are warning them of these nightmarish events; perhaps so, I don't know, but each one has turned into an unbelievable monster . I have not enjoyed being around them after their babies have arrived.

Because the simple matter is a doctors first priority is to cover the butts against being sued and after that to make money. Not to keep people well or educate them unless you corner them with questions.

Because they're just sales people these days.I had bad problems after my baby was born.I was on reglan for breast milk production,Welbutrin for post pardem depresion and Ambien Cr. for Insomnia.I was not doing good on all these drugs. They make you wacked out of your mind. The best thing I did was stop taking them all and get out of the house for some sunshine and watch some funny movies.I hear excersize helps with these isues. But yes,You are right. The doctors don't prepare you for anything after birth.I think they should have counceling sesions included in prenatal care.I bet if I had a midwife things would have been different but I never researched midwives.Best of luck to your Family.

Doctors are so much into physical symptoms they foolishly ignore a new mothers emotional symptoms which can progress to suicide.
If I were you, I would be a source of support for them despite the unpleasantness. Can you imagine how they must feel inside. Offer to stay with baby while they catch up on rest or whatever they need at the time. New mothers don't get amoment to themselves and can often feel trapped, lonely and unappreciated. Maybe a gift just for mom, like pampering at a salon or amassage( which is wonderful for stress and depression.

I know I was blindsided by Postpartum Depression (not that everyone suffers from this) and no one in my family knew what was happening to me...My OB told me "just don't watch any sad movies or anything in the next couple of weeks." I think people don't have enough info about what pregnancy can do to a woman's body (and mind) so just try to be supportive even if they are 'monsters.' Chances are they're just tired, unsure of themselves and in need of support. :)Good luck!

It's called baby blues, we all get it in one way or another. It's so common and doctors don't know how your sisters are acting unless they tell the doc. I guess it's just something that you've gotta ride out unless they're seriously depressed.
