I would say to hell with the proverbial island paradise and drop me off in the mountains somewhere. Why? Well, although the enviorment may seem a tad harsher than the tropics, I think overall survival may be easier given a larger selection of game, building materials, fresh water, ect.
As for company, hmmm...since you admonished that it must be someone we have never met before...I would have to go with Patrick Stump, the lead vocalist from Fall Out Boy, purely for sanity purposes.

If you were to be stranded in any remote location on earth, with any one person that you have never met before, where would it be, with whom, and why?
1. If I were to be stranded in a remote location, it would be somewhere in the middle of Egypt with no buildings and/or indication of life. (I know, so cliche....)
2. In the question you said I was stranded in a remote area with someone I haven't met before, so I wouldn't know who I would be stranded with. =P
3. I would have been in a remote area because I was traveling and looking for sceneries to paint.
You should have also asked how I got there...and how I got stranded. My question would have made a humongous amount of more sense. =P

New Zealand's backcountry, because it's beautiful and I've always wanted to go there, and with a local who knows how to survive because I'd like to eventually get out alive.

If I want to be rescued, I'd be stuck with Pres Bush, Bill Gates or the Pope ... then I'd be sure to be found quickly.
If I was happy to go through survival experiences, I'd want someone with local knowledge to get through it.
