I have been given a cellular telephone whilst i become 12 because of the fact my mom and father worked alot after college and it become for if I have been given locked out etc. If he's getting undesirable grades then definately not. If he honestly desires it not needs it then get him a common cellular telephone, not a blackberry or IPod. you have the telephone now, so which you will besides make him do alot of chores around the living house, not get allowance, and get greater beneficial grades in school!
