There is a lot of factors that go into the reason that wind chimes make the noise they do. For instance the length of pipe, the type of pipe (brass, aluminum, copper, etc.), the spot where you drill the hole to hang the pipes, also the diameter of the pipe. because they're wind chimes. thats how you know the sound, because they're wind chimes. if they were a piano they would sound completely different.
