I'm willing to pay 20 to 30 bucks to do so, but it's gotta be legit. Got any ideas?
It's pretty important to me to get it to run faster. What are your methods?

I will definitely look into C Cleaner!
And I defragmented about 5 or so days ago. It was a success, but didn't speed anything up.
And it sounds like I'm gonna have to spend 50 or so bucks on RAM. But that's OK. I get 100 bucks a month for doing nothing. I want a web cam and that's 20-30 bucks, and then the RAM is like 50 tops, right?
I'll have 20 bucks but that's OK. It's gonna be put to good use.
I'm ALWAYS on this damn thing, so I need it to run fast and smoothly. Like it was the first day we got it.
Thanks again, all. I wish I could give most of you best answer! =D

Using a registry cleaner can fix your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

There may be many reasons for the slow down. It could be too little memory. It could be too many programs loading at start-up. To speed it up without spending much money the first thing to do is remove any programs you don't need. Remove any Icons from the desktop that you don't need. Make sure that you have enough memory to run your system. If you are using Windows 2000 I recommend 256 mb of system memory or 512 mb if you are running Windows XP. Depending on the memory you need you will spend 30 to 50 dollars. Also you may have a virus or malicious software. Run anti-virus software and anti-spyware software to remove any malicious software. You may also try disk clean-up on the local drives, for example, right click on local disk C: and click properties, then click disk clean-up. Also try running the defrag utility from the properties menu as well.

I recommend using the GNU-Linux operating system. It is completely free. It is much easier to use now, and don't let people tell you otherwise. The community is very helpful and the operating system runs much faster. The same computer that took 5 minutes to load up windows took about 12 seconds to load the linux desktop.
You can also have cool 3d effects. All this can be done on as little as 512 MB of ram.

You could get more RAM for that money.
Or you could buy System Mechanic. Which is really good.
Or for free, you could use CCleaner. Search it in google.
Good luck and i hope this helps.
EDIT: Also try freeing some space and deleting some shortcuts on the desktop. That usually speeds it up a little. And checking what you got on start up.

*More ram, but cheap ram is, well- cheap quality
*Clear some stuff off the disk (more free space means the machine can use it as 'virtual ram')
*Defrag the drive
*run anti-virus and anti-spyware programs; there might be some in there slowing it down.
(attempt to be funny): Have it go to the gym more often.

I always add more RAM. It's the cheapest way to improve performance.
Of course it would be helpful to know something about your computer, and whether you are talking about computer speed or Internet speed. Lots of people confuse the two.

well the only thing i can think of is that having power outages may have broken your router or something. this is really comcast's problem. you should call them again and have them deal with it. they wouldn't just leave you without internet. they should be able to find the problem
