Lets start off with I DON’T CARE if you think that extended service plans aren’t a great investment. For us, the peace of mind is worth the cost. Which isn’t to say we don’t care about the cost.
So, my wife’s Road King is about to run out of factory warranty and we want to purchase the 5 year (total of 7 years) extended service plan. Do any of you have a suggestion where we can purchase the extended service plan at a good discount.
If you work at a HD dealership and want to offer me the discount direct without going public feel free to contact me directly by email.
I would like to buy this week.
Thank you for your time and info.

OK here’s the reason that I don’t “do ur own wrenching”. My wife and I are retired and travel by motorcycle extensively. We enjoy long distance touring, such as Yellowknife Northwest Territories, Alaska, Vancouver Island etc. IT JUST ISN’T CONVENIENT FOR US TO CARRY A COMPLETE TOOLBOX. So we really would like a response from someone that actually knows about the extended service plan (perhaps someone that knows what’s covered – like parts) and where one can be purchased at a discount.
Again thank you for your time and info.

I don't know about discounts......
I got the +5 extended warranty and road hazard at purchase. I don't recall the exact price, it was about $1200. Any dealership should be able to help you. Now that I think harder, the dealer was not able to discount the extended warranty at all. He had to reduce the price of the motorcycle so that all the numbers added up to the quoted price total.

Any Harley dealer will be able to answer your question. I can tell you though that warranty service on Harleys is quite expensive. It's not unusual for a warranty service event to run $500-$800.00 for new H-Ds. Harleys are expensive bikes in the first place, so it's no wonder that service on them is also expensive. "H-D" does, afterall, stand for HIGH DOLLAR. :o) Over the course of 45 years of motorcycle riding I've owned three Harleys. I liked them and had fun on them. But I long ago swapped to metric bikes because of the lower purchase price and much better reliability. In fact, the bike I ride now is a big Jap cruiser that came from the factory with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty! You will NEVER see Harley offer a 5-year factory warranty on anything they make. Warranty service is typically $200-$300.00 with a couple along the way that were very extensive and cost more to perform because of the man-hours involved.

only thing that might do is cover shop time. i highly doubt it will cover parts. oh and btw, no employee of a dealership that wants to stay at their job would think of offering an employee discount; specially since the bike's vin goes on record to the service plan; specially if the 'employee' doesnt own a bike with that vin. get real. if u want the extended service plan, plunk down ur cash at the price its going for, otherwise, forget it. that's what all dealerships will tell u. i suggest u get a service manual, certain tools, and do ur own wrenching; i can see leaving big time engine work to the shop, but for the most part, it isnt all that difficult the way the manual is laid out.

there are several extended service plans.
I can only recommend the HD extended service plan. Due to they are the easiest to get coverage (coverage= Service department call them and tells them what's wrong with the bike, and the cost of fixing it). Mon-Sat usually a 5 minute phone call for approval.
it's $50.00 per visit plus hardware (they don't cover nuts, bolts, etc.)
