A commuter town to some extent. Middle class, largely. But not upper middle class.
The commuters from Guildford don't go via the slow route they go the faster route on the main line. There are trains that take only 40 minutes to Waterloo.

Guildford has all classes, but yes mainly upper-middle. As for being a commuter town...I think it's too far out. Leatherhead is a commuter town and I still think that's quite far which is 25 minutes away on the train from Guildford.

Yes, thats pretty much Guildford in a nutshell. Certainly its within the standard commuter belt, especially considering that lots of people now commute from as far afield as Brighton

Very probably. Here in south London where I live, most of us call Surrey the "City Slicker Belt" - it's also where most of the thespian lovies have their 20 bed mansions plus the usual gaggle of footballer's wives, spives and other undisreables.
If you are thinking of moving there, check out the house prices first.

Yes and the shopping is fab.. Not too expensive houses are cheaper than london and you get more for your money.
