No, not a surprising effect, a predictable effect.

The reason the employers don't worry about illegals being caught and loosing their labor force in Mexico is because Mexico actually enforces their immigration laws. Mr. Scaroni really needs to check the expense for him to immigrate to Mexico and investigate what other problems he may have to deal with like rampant corruption, Mexican labor laws and the problems of exporting farm products from Mexico to the United States. Since Mr. Scaroni admits to employing illegal aliens, he needs to be arrested for violating US Labor and Employment Laws, and when he gets out of prison, then go to Mexico, of course they don't want to let criminals immigrate there. Hispanic civil rights organizations complain of the low average wages of Hispanic workers and yet they continue to encourage, endorse, provide aid and comfort and shelter illegal aliens that are the cause of the low wages, poor work conditions, lack of benefits and general social stature of the Hispanic community.

Of course it would have an effect if there ever is a real crackdown like there needs to be but like anything else it would recover when we got workers back in the fields that were legal and worked.
Just like a factory who employed 50 workers and 30 were illegal. If they were raided and deported then you would have 20 workers to run the line and have to hire more to keep it going. But now whos fault would that be if they went under ?? The scum who hired the illegals in the first place so they will get what they had coming for not following the law!!

Would it have a surprising effect on American business?
Yes, if its surprising that they would have to pay fair wages, and abide by labor and safety laws.
There have been several recent cases of agricultural employers mistreating their "illegal" employees; beating them, withholding pay, forcing them to work 18 hour days etc, and threatening to call "La Migra" if they complain.
I think that moving their operations to Mexico is a win-win situation. The economic effect here will be marginal, but the number of illegal immigrants will be reduced, as will the social/economic/legal issues that result. While it'd provide Mexico with more employment and economic activity.

That would take a lot of research and soul searching to understand enough to give an informed comment. Technically, the whole immigration issue is hyped. It's more about pet peeves and insecurity. The pols are just feeding on it. Which ones is still in contention?

Yeah, that'll work. Move the farming operation to Mexico. Find out why you didn't do that before. Restrictions on land ownership, climate, and the problems of moving fresh produce across the border....

No, those are the rantings of The ACLU, The AFL-CIO and other Unions along with other supporters of Illegal immigration. They are the ones who took the case to court to override towns and cities helping police deport illegals. Tell them how you really feel!

i don't see how it can't, but it doesn't matter.
we need to know who you are if you want to live and work here. We also need you to be able to make enough $$ to pay into the system which supports you sufficiently.

...we should be more concerned about those let in legally by their connections here in the U.S.
...KGB -AKA-Russian mafia is a good example. There is no loyalty with those people...and no heart that you will find in the average immigrant trying to become a citizen.
...So,Who let the dogs in?

Your question makes no sense, how can a farmer pick up their land and move it to Mexico?
