As far as I'm concerned, Michael Vick is another spoiled celebrity whiner who thinks that standing up in front of the cameras and saying he's sorry will be enough to get him off the hook.

If he wants to convince anybody that he's genuinely sorry, then let him donate a huge chunk of money to the Humane Society to help sick, lost, and injured animals. Or better still, let him go to the nearest animal shelter and muck out the pens, clean up animal puke, and get his hands dirty actually caring for the same kind of helpless creatures that he drowned and electrocuted.

Until he puts his time and money where his mouth is, he can play the "sorry" card until hell freezes over, but I don't buy a single word of what he's saying.

A mistake is accidently turning the wrong way on a 'one way street'. Vick was the ringleader of a seven year crime wave. Did we forgive John Gotti? The people are the ones demonizing him after he demonized himself. The media is searching under every rock trying to find someone to defend him - like stupid Whoopie Goldberg. I'll bet she isn't going to be doing any concerts in the South anytime soon!

Ok, he is going to serve his time. Why should he stay away from football. That is his occupation and he should deserve to return. I would love for these people who discredit Vick to be convicted of something and never have the opportunity to work at their same job. I am not saying it is right, but Michael Vick was brought up in a sub-cultural where dog fighting was part of there life. I don't want to sound funny but it is like the farmer that has sex with his sheep. Don't you think that is wrong? In China, dogs and cats are delicassies and are killed like nothing. That is the way they are raised and don't know any better. For them it is all right, for us it is inhumane. He apologized and found God? I don't understand that. It takes for you to go to prison to find God. Anyway he is being demonized too much

he brutally fought and killed innocent animals.

on the other hand I am going up north at the end of the month to track down and kill some innocent animals myself.

PETA sucks but Gang Bangers fighting dogs and using the profits for drug trafficking is not a good thing. Vick should get the max sentence.

IMO "making a mistake" would be something like getting drunk and smashing a car. Organizing and operating a dog fighting ring for five years is not "making a mistake". I know there are worse trangressions than dog fighting, but Vick really showed utter contempt for the game, the fans, and the league through his actions.

Michael Vicks demonized himself. It was a "mistake" to bet on dog fighting. Drowning the dogs who didn't perform up to his standards goes way beyond mistake. Vicks is about 1 step away from being a sociopath, and I think he needs a good long spell in a cell to think about what he did and whether he has ANYTHING to offer society beyond his ability to throw a silly football.

Let's see, he was involved in dog fighting and brutally killed some of the dogs that didn't perform well. At first he denied any knowledge of the dog fighting taking place on his property. Seems like he demonized himself.

I hope his apology is sincere. He needs, though, to speak out against dog fighting and continue to do so.

Vick did something dangerous, illegal and sick. Yes, it is played out out huge in the media -- but in this case I think it's a good thing as it draws attention to the problem of dogfighting and has brought it into the public eye.

Now, maybe others will think twice about being involved in such a thing when they see there are serious consequences -- even for the rich and famous.

So, is he a "victim"? In my opinion, not so much.

This is pretty old as a topic...Vick is going to get off with a slap on the wrist compared to what he should get, and the media isn't even talking about him any more until sentencing time rolls around in December.
