I have 4 Bettas, all separated. 2 are in a double tank w/ a divider so they can't see each other. And one of them keeps trying to jump out of his side of the tank. Once he jumped out while we were cleaning his tank and landed on the floor.
Any suggestions?

There is a lid to the tank. But every time we take it off, he tries to jump out. We have resorted to feeding him through the "air holes" in the lid.

I try to clean the tank every 2 weeks, as it says.

After loosing two Bettas, my mother began keeping ours in a small fancy car with a cloth screen on top of it, held on by a rubberband at the lid grooves.

Is something you are doing triggering the jumping. I noticed one time our Betta would see me coming with the shrimp package and get so excited he would jump out. So we got a lid and when I intended to give him some shrimp I would hide the package behind me until I got to the tank and was ready to drop it in. I could get it in before he could get out. One time he had a horrible black eye from hitting the floor. But he got well pretty quick. But he just loved that frozen shrimp.
Lots of luck with jumping.

Keep the water level a little lower or add a decorative top. Keep the tanks where the fish can not see one another.

you can get the plastic canvas stuff old ladies use to stitch yarn on at walmart or any craft store and cut it to make a decent cover.
my experience is most bettas don't jump -- but when they learn how to they never stop. theories of why they jump don't hold much weight -- hes not trying to kill himself and hes not trying to escape or get to the other betta.

Usually fish jump due to poor water conditions or being scared. How often do you change the tank water?

I think it's completely retarded how pet stores sell "betta bowls/tanks" without lids, even though bettas are well known to jumping. Boy cott much?
Anyways, please get something to cover the tanks.

well, like luvin life said, they jump due to bad waterconditions, and she is right on with her answer
I'ts recommended you do parital waterchanges of 25% weekly on tanks, but if you only have a bowl or small tank with no filter, you need to siphon out water every ohter day and not just every 2 weeks
hope that helps
Good luck
