I am flipping out a little bit. PCOS and Clomid... anyone know anything about it. How high risk is it? What should I do and not do now? I am quitting smoking right now.

wowwwww, congratulations. You have now to do:

- take folic acid and prenatal vitamins.
- eat healthy food, vegetables, proteins, carbs, fruits and lots of liquids.
- exercise, it will help your delivery in 9 months. Just walking 30 mins a day really helps, you can also ride a bike but don't push yourself to hard.
- don't lift heavy objects.

Remember the 1st trimester is the most critical one, and hcances of having a miscarriage are high. Good for you to quit smoking, I did so too when I got pg and through breastfeeding, now that I'm done I just don't wanna have a cigarrete at all. Also stay away from people who smoke, second hand smoke can be as dangerous as 1st.

Congrats!

It's great that you're taking positive steps to increase the chances of a pregnancy. I took Clomid and had no side effects. It's not something you want to take for months on end, but in the short term, it may help you get pregnant. If Clomid doesn't work, fertility doctors have lots of other tricks in their bag, both low tech and high tech. Don't hesitate to take that next step if Clomid isn't working. Try it out for a few months, and if you're not successful, go to a Reproductive Endocrinologist for a consultation. You'll be happy you did. Good luck!

Edit: I'm a little confused -- are you already pregnant, or are you about to start Clomid and are concerned about side effects? Could you elaborate, and then I'll change my answer. I'm assuming you're not pregnant.

I am glad to hear that you are quitting smoking. I am not able to give you advice on PCOS and clomid, but I am sure that your doctor would be happy to answer any of your questions.

If you are drinking alcohol or coffee, or pretty much anything with caffeine, this would be a good time to avoid those as well. Start taking a prenatal vitamin, and eat lots of fruit and veggies. Check with your parents or your significant others parents, to see if there is any medical conditions that may be a problem, such as high blood pressure, or diabetes.

Congratulations!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

I have PCOS and was on clomid for 2 cycles.
Pregnant now, 5 weeks and 3days.
My doctor put me on procheive gel, its a gel inserted into your vagina daily by way of supository. It boosts your level of progesterone which intern will help to reduce the risk of miscarriage. ussually only given the first trimester.

Just remain calm. If you havent stopped smoking in the four years youve been trying, you must not have been trying very hard...lol. Or else you dont have much hope for the future.

Your doctor will monitor you, depending on the severity of pcos he or she will give you directions. In most cases you can have a perfectly normal pregnancy.

Chill out until your appointment, go about life as usual, take time to drink water, you need alot at this point. And rest. You'll know more after your appointment.
