There is an easy answer to that. A thief is not a thief when he works for the UK Government ( They all line there pockets one way or the other)

What amuses me more, above all else with this incident is that the MEP in question was from UKIP.

Oh Joy!

[I do however think it's a rather ridiculous and alarming situation that such a prominent government official can retain their position in such circumstances]

It is a disgrace he should be sacked & made to pay all the money plus a fine. What we see here are rules made for a few to get away with braking the law.

that is just ridiculous

so the next time he robs he can only stay in jail 5 months, for a total of 12 months OR is it for one stint

and as long as he stays in jail for less than a year each time he is in the clear right?

CRAZY
AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

You're so right.....that is CRAZY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A lawyer in England needs to keep his slate clean if he wants to keep his license to practice. Same with doctors and with most other professions. However MEPs can be crooks and still keep their jobs.

It is a total disgrace, if he has any honour at all he should resign. Hopefully his constituency will de-select him anyway.

There is one law for us, and a different law for politicians.
