no, she has to make a study guide with just information on the topic. there are no questions.

That is WAY too broad to answer here. Get an algebra text book, or get your daughter a tutor who knows this stuff to help her.

We can start with some basic simple concepts that you can further research from a text book, on the web etc.....

1 when solving equations with one variable symbolically, most of the time you will have some numbers mixed in with a single letter (x, or y, or z raised to a power from 1 to anything etc....) or a number letter combination like 2x, 7g, 2x², h³.

The main idea when solving is to collect your terms with the letters to one side and the numbers alone on the other side of the = sign, the combo terms with a letter and number are grouped with the letters initially. Use a nice analogy of thinking of the numbers as fruit and an term with letters (be it a letter by itself or with a number like 8y) as animals.
Your ninth graders job is to separate the animals from the fruit, I know you will say this is stupid but it helps in the long run.

2. You will have to be able to recall most of your algebra rules for solving, factoring, simplifying, and collecting terms. ne equation you would have to remember is the quadratic equation.

3. The golden rule in solving equation is to remember a equation is what its name says it is, an equality, so whatever you do to one side you have to do to the other to keep it equal and balanced, Ex you multiply BOTH sides by 2 or add 7 to both sides etc.....

Lastly, for graphical solutions, you need some graphing paper and a pencil to create a table of values of 4 or 5 selected values of x and their corrsponding values after they have been workd through the given equation, then plot them on the graph. A good graphing calculator like the TI-84 makes the job easier.

It`s difficult to know exactly what you need to know. We could fill the page with stuff which is meaningless to you. Please post 2 or 3 questions that you`re experiencing problems with, and someone will be happy to help you.
