The manual that came with your motherboard will tell you the appropriate type of RAM and the speed. Get as much RAM as you can afford, up to the upper limit that the motherboard can accept, as it is the cheapest way to gain a dramatic increase in performance.

EASIEST WAY TO CHECK AND UPGRADE RAM

- go to www.crucial.com - you will see offer to check yr memory online - click on it
the moment crucial's server contacts yr computer if you have firewall installed new window will pop-up with notice (warning) that another computer is trying to reach yr computer - click ALLOW
Crucial's server will check yr memory - lasts only a short time - a few seconds - and tells you just everything about yr RAM memory - best feature is it will tell you how many RAM you will be able to install and WHAT IS NEW TYPE OF RAM AVAILABLE FOR YR COMPUTER - go always with this new type because it operates on higher frequency than your installed memory which means moves more data in shorter time -
Crucial's service comes with no strings attached meaning you don't need to buy from them
You know that RAM is always installed in pairs of equal value and equal type - that way both yr computer and yr RAM operate most efficiently
when you know thru this service what is new type of RAM available for yr computer and how many of it you can buy - go and buy it and replace it

Most places can tell your what you need to buy with either a copy of your motherboard info or your can get your dxdaig if they know how to read it. Just remember you gota have the same type in most PC's so if you have 1, 1G stick and 2 slots you can only put another 1G stick in in most PCs.
