12 years ago, the neocons in Congress lifted the legal restrictions that prevented meida conglomerates from dominating American media. Now there are just six that control most media in all the major markets.
News--real news--is expensive. Dog-and-pony shows are cheap. And Rurpert Murdoch and the rest of these moguls don't give a rat's a** about their responsibility as journalists, aren't members of the communities where they do business (he isn't even an American) and can see as far as the fat profits they make andhow to make them fatter.
That's the neocon's"free market" for you--its "free" only to the big companies--and the FCC now works only to protect them from competition.

Stirring things up!
They are probably hoping that California gets hit with the hurricane, of which I do not, but fear is fear.
We fear that we might have another attack, so stir things up, and men in general fear homosexual behavior, so stir things up, I mean look at Craig, so I guess that is part for the core as well - fear.
It is a sick society - that's the hard part in this take.
Turn your television OFF and go to the beach.

The terrorists attack attempt in Germany was prominent on the TODAY show, but they gave an equal amount of time to that pilot Steve Fosset. And I basically heard nothing abut the Cat. 5 storm.....tsk, tsk....

Honestly, I knew about all the stories you mentioned EXCEPT the she-man. But I understand your point. Most of the time, it is the most ridiculous stuff that makes the headlines. I used to say leave the obscure crap on the internet where it belongs, we'll find it when we're bored enough, but now tv has gone there too with entire shows dedicated to stuff found on the net. It makes you wonder, is this what they think we want to see, or what they want us to pay the most attention to?

You are a dangerous person !!!!! You need to be locked away in a "nut house" for your own safety !!!! You cannot be allowed in the public forum, as you have noticed "our news agenda of presenting garbage, as important news events" and have protested !!!!
You are one very dangerous person !!!! YOU MUST BE STOPPED !!!!! YOU MIGHT HAVE PEOPLE THINKING AGAIN, AND WE INTELLIGENT / INTELLECTUALS LEADERS OF THE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS MOVEMENT / THE LIBERAL - SOCIALIST "TRULY CORRECT THINKERS" CAN NOT ALLOW THE LIKES OF YOU TO ROAM FREE !!!!!!
" There will be someone knocking on your front door very soon, and we will have the back covered, also" !!!
An excellent question, and sadly, the current state of affairs in the news media, and I do not see any way to stop the liberals from further exploitation of this means to acquire their goals !!!! Sad, today !!!!!!!!!!!

The dumbing down and misdirection of the attention of the American public are central to creating a population that is either apathetic or ill-equipped to participate in a true democracy.
It is a tactic used to keep the public from questioning their government.

Entertainment has taken over the television network news, try NPR, PBS, BBC, the washington Post, the NY times, for their coverage of national and world events.

I always watch BBC, they report all the news all over the world in a non-biased way. The rest pretty much stink.

I've given up on watching "news" programs or channels since I started listening to talk radio shows because I hear more news on those programs than on actural news programs on tv.
