What are the chinese tire brand names?

Question

I'm shopping for tires and do not want to end up with Chinese tires. I know primewell is chinese what others are there?

It's still good to know these brands becouse the sales man will tell you that it's a cheaper version of goodyear or it's that bridgestone owns the company... but they are still chinese

States Recall Chinese Tires

24 state attorneys general have issued recalls of an estimated 270,000 tires, imported from China, that may be unsafe.

Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Company Ltd. Sold under the brand names of Compass, Westlake and YKS, the tires are designed for use on SUVs, trucks and vans.

Foreign Tire Sales filed a “Defect and Non-compliance Report” with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on July 2, 2007, saying the tires may not meet the minimum specifications provided to the tire manufacturer.

Affected tires lack “gum strips,” an important part of a tire related to the prevention of thread separation. Tire treads could separate, creating a potential safety hazard on the road. At least one serious accident has been caused by such an occurrence with these tires.

Chinese Tires Brand Names

Check with the dealer...as in actually looking at the tire, it'll say it's country of origin. I've bought Goodyears where one tire was made in USA and the other in Canada. The major American manufacturers have been bought by overseas concerns so you'll find some Firestones made in Japan since Bridgestone (Japanese) owns them. Michelin is French but you'll find US made tires and Dunlop is British but you'll find lots of US made tires while Duralon (US) has tires made in Argentina. Go figure?
