Well, if you haven't read Patricia Cornwell, you have to! She's my fave! Be sure and start with the first one, Post Mortem and go in order.
I've been reading Jan Burke recently and they are great too, same character throughout each book, very good mystery, crime scene books.

The only author typically on the best seller list that I will even look at is Nelson Demille, and even his latest, "Wild Fire" wasn't too hot.
Some of his earlier ones are great, including "Plum Island", "Nightfall", "The General's Daughter" and "The Charm School"
You could read Raymond Chandler, one of the all time greats.
His books include
The Big Sleep
The Long Goodbye
The Lady in the Lake
The Little Sister
For funny contemporary try Carl Hiaasen
Double Whammy
Tourist Season
Lucky You
Striptease
I found anything by John Steinbeck or Herman Hesse to be pretty enjoyable
That Old Ace in the Hole and The Shipping News by Annie Proulx are good
Lawrence Sanders "The Tomorrow File" and most everything else he wrote are good enjoyable reads.
There, that should keep u busy

I highly reccomend all of the following authors: (they provide a wide variety of good and exciting reading)
Harlan Coben, Jeffrey Deaver, Greg Iles, Lawrence Block, Stephen King, Robert Ludlum, Chuck Pahlaniuk, Jody Piccoult, Dan Brown, and Janet Evanovich.
THose authors represent over 150 books put together so that will definately keep you busy for awhile. And I can promise you, you won't be bored with any of them!

read some other genres....try a beat poet, Jack Kerouac, Wolfe, Allen ginsberg, William Burroughs...The Beat Generation was a group of American writers who came to prominence in the late 1950s and early 1960s...their literature was banned in bookstores....a very different type of literature. there are also authors like Douglas Coupland, a sort of pop culture author....then there are the classics. my favorite is Rudyard Kipling...read his short stories (he wrote the jungle book) he was a british author living who wrote about India...the myths and legends. try new stuff!!!there are so many books in the world.
