i actually think i may of chosen to come here, as i really believe we all must be somewhere , right? so we may have an option of returning to earth, or even coming for the first time, i have always thought of my spirit as being someplace, then i was born here, then i will pass on to someplace else. i wouldnt really say i think of it as to experience for God, but more of God's gift to allow us to experience,
when my daughter was 4, and i hadnt spoken yet of my beliefs to her, a neighbor passed on, i was deciding how to discuss this with her when she said " i think you pass on, you get candy to make you better, then you can come back if you want to", wow , she in childs words summed up my beliefs!
i think it does drastically change your perspective on life, and on what happens after your time here is done, i know for me, even as a child, i had problems with religions, the ones that felt you must do this or that to get close to God or go to heaven, or that one religion was somehow better then another, i never felt that there was one type of heaven, but that it could vary, as we have diverse varied people , also, a person who felt they had a choice would feel more like a participant, rather then just having something happen to them

A clever question!
I would suddenly find myself with no need to question or doubt. I would KNOW God exists and I would have a purpose.
Of course, I would wonder what my existence was before I made this decision. Did I have other past lives? Perhaps I was not human before this....an angel? more likely an animal, now reincarnated! I would guess a dog, since I love trees.
I would find it difficult to understand why God needs me to experience anything...but I think I could muster enough faith to accept it on face value. After all, no need to worry about death anymore. Let's not look a "gift life" in the mouth!
Apparently, this was my decision which meant that either I was getting bored sitting on a cloud, or I had not seen New Jersey before I decided to "visit" earth. (kidding).
The big question is whether knowing all this would make a difference in my life. Would I feel more obligated to see what a grasshopper taste like or travel to Timbuktu.
First impression is no, but this is the sort of idea that I think you have to wear for awhile before you know exactly how it is going to fit.
I hope that it wouldn't change anything; that I would find after all is said an done, that I have lived my life as if I actually did request to come here and experience it (except without tasting a grasshopper)! :-))

It's not about the way we came into the world or the way we leave it. It's about how we spend the time in between. The world is lush and textured and multi faceted. God has given us the senses to experience it in all it's depth and the intelligence to compensate those senses when we don't have them. In doing so we temper and form the spiritual form that will transcend the limitations of the natural world and connect with something deeper. If we achieve that enlightenment during life we are able to more deeply appreciate the facets of this existence. To quote Anne Rice, the world is a Savage Garden. Dig it!

well im actually glad you asked that question because I do believe we chose to be born and chose what experiences we would go through for the sake of spiritual growth, because the soul cannot grow if it stayed as a soul, it must experience a physical form to grow by- this is called purpose and sycrinicity.
I guess in a simplified way of looking at it you can call it the cycles of yin/yang.

I knew it when I came here, but for many years the reason and purpose were not clear to me. We do not ever do it for a 'deity.' Even in the beginning incarnations it is merely an evolutionary spiritual process. Ultimately, we come back to contribute our bit of light to this dimension - for the sake of humanity.

It would make people more appreciative of life and the opportunity for experience and growth we garnish through our earthly incarnation(s).
