She had no need to. British union bosses have, historically, sold out their members for the glittering prizes the Establishment gives them. Look at the number of trade union leaders who ended up with titles and sinecures on quangos even under Thatcher. At least one became a Lord for passing on the names of militants in his own union to the security services.
What frightened Thatcher and the Establishment in the Seventies was the fact that ordinary workers were beginning to organise themselves and learning that ordinary people could exercise some degree of control over their lives.
These things also go in cycles. The Establishment may be able to buy off leaders, put legal constraints on union activities, even physically smash trade union organisations, but when the situation demands it ordinary workers recreate the means to defend and advance their interests.

Funny isn't it. The Labour government adopted most of the Thatcher policies. I think her critics even in her own party are talking from a place where the sun don't shine

Prime Minister Margret Thatcher and her government saved this country from the ignominy of trade union reckless strikes!.
Her leadership in very difficult times made the difference between being the sick man of Europe and prosperity that we enjoy today. The labour party would have us believe that the stable economy that we have enjoyed for years now is down to good old Gordon Brown!. hahaha they wish it was true!. The seeds of today's prosperity were sewn long before Brown got anywhere near 11 Downing street!.
Hip hip hoorah for Mrs T.

Don't be silly. We used to make gas from coal. She shut down the coal mines. Then we used North sea gas for gas and electricity generation. Now it's running out and we buy it from the Russians who have a virtual monopoly. We had a brand new super-pit - it cost millions - she shut it down. She had people out on the streets wanting to kill the ***** - and that was just the poll tax. People died in the Falklands - soldiers were landed with no air cover. It was mess up, **** up and sleaze. Even Teflon Tone seems good by comparison.

No she went about creating a schism in society, something along the lines of what political 'parties' like the BNP are trying to achieve.

Mrs. T cares about herself and no one else ,and she screwed the public and private sectors and called it market factors. Don't let the crocodile tears fool you when she was kicked out of office. She still lives in luxury ,when the majority of people have to live with the dilemma of Poll tax.
