Ok, I went to the Doctor's on Monday and he told me I hade Pharyngitis. so he put me on Amoxicillin. Well I am on my placebo pills and I suppose to start my period actually tomorrow (Thursday). My antibiotic shouldn't kick my period back, should it? I am just curious to see what people think. Thanks for any help!

No. Antibiotics don't affect your cycle, but it will make your birth control less effective, so make sure to use condoms if your going to have sex while on antibiotics.

Certain antibiotics can interact with birth control pills, making the birth control pills less effective and pregnancy more likely. Spotting - or ‘mid-cycle’ bleeding - may be the first sign that an antibiotic is interfering with the effectiveness of your birth control pills. Antibiotics that have been shown to interact with birth control pills include rifampin (brand name Rifadin), and to a lesser extent, penicillin (Veetids), amoxicillin (Amoxil), ampicillin (Omnipen), sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (Septra or Bactrim), tetracycline (Sumycin), minocycline (Minocin), metronidazole (Flagyl), and nitrofurantoin (Macrobid or Macrodantin). To help women avoid pregnancy while taking an antibiotic - and for at least one week afterward - doctors generally recommend they use a condom or spermicide as a back-up method of birth control. If you are taking both antibiotics and birth control pills, be sure to check with your doctor about how long you should continue to use a back-up method. Also, discuss any other questions you may have about this information

The antibiotic shouldn't throw off your menstrual cycle, however it will decrease the effectiveness of the active birth control pills. So use extra protection during this time to avoid pregnancy.

It might not kick your period back but you should use protection while you are taking the amox and a few days after it finishes as it does decrease the effectiveness of the pill.

No it shouldn't do anything, there are some antibiotics out there you have to watch out for while on birth control, but i've been on amoxicilin many times through out the years i've been on birth control. It's never affected mine. i wouldn't worry about it. =) have a good day!

DO be careful... and ask your doc how long the antibiotic will be fouling up your birth control AFTER you've finished taking it.....

No, but I would double check with your doctor to see if you should be using a back-up method this month.
