In week 2, if Michigan loses to Oregon then Notre Dame loses to Penn State. Will the week 3 match up between Notre Dame at Michigan determine both Charlie Weis and Lloyd Carrs jobs?
If so do you think either of the two will get fired immediately, if this scenario unfolds?
Tell me what you think.

I am an extreme Michigan and Lloyd Carr fan, so (MongodaGreat) I am not hating on them.
I asked this question because UofM is #1 in wins and winning percentage. ND is #2 in wins and winning percentage. Those are all-time Division stats, which makes the stakes very high for these programs.
For programs with such a rich history to possibly start out 0-2 and then meet at the Big House is huge!

Well i don't think Fat boy Charlie Weis gonna get fire for losing alot of games this year, the ND fans and Administration know that the Fighting Irish are a bad team, so they don't expect much from the Irish. Fat Boy Charlie job is safe, but if Michigan lose another game or two Lloyd Carr is gone for sure, losing is ot a choice for Lloyd Carr, he's definitely on the hot seat already. I think Lloyd Carr needs to win out all the games to save his job, that mean beat OSU and win the BIG 10. I like Lloyd Carr he won 76.6% of his games and won 1 national title in 1997, the first for Michigan in a long time. I hope they keep him, he's a great coach.

Lloyd Carr will most likely retire after the end of this season under intesnse pressure. Charlie Weis isn't going anywhere for awhile because he just inked a 10 year deal; it would cost Notre Dame way too much to part with him; like it or not Charlie Weis will be the Notre Dame coach for at least the next 5 years.

Neither get fired. Carr is likely going to retire after this season. Even if you look at the recruiting for 2008, it does not seem that Michigan is charging up for another Carr season. Look for someone to take over, probably someone like the coach at Boise State or Rich Rodriguez at West Virginia.
Charlie is going nowhere either. Long term contracts are unheard of in South Bend. Even Ara did not have a long term contract with the Irish athletic department. Charlie is finally playing with the recruits that he brought in, not Tyrone Willinghams recruits. This is going to be a down season for the Irish however they will find a way into a bowl game. I can see Christmas in Hawaii or a game in El Paso for the Irish.

if michigan goes 0-3, Lloyd Carr will be fired or he will resign the day after. Charlie Weis unfortunately won't lose his job if they go 0-3 (which is gonna happen cause there is NO possible way that they will beat PSU at PSU. and they won't beat michigan. Notre Dame will probably win 4 games this year

Carr is in more danger than Weis......but even he will retire before it ever comes to that.

ND will wait till the end of the season before they even consider it, because, while Weis might not want to admit it, the team is rebuilding, and the powers that be realize that. If the team doesn't show signs of improvement, he will be under scrutiny next season. Most schools give you 2-3 years of poor pplay, before they can you, just to see if it was a fluke.

And, now, go find some other schools to hate on, or maybe, apply for a coaching job, and see how well you do.

*And I don't get the longer leash comment........So far Weis has not had a losing season...(though one is obviously on its way), where Ty, stunk. He didn't have even remotely the success Weis has.(even as limited as it has been)......and We saw Weis take guys Willingham couldn't win with, and turn it around and make winners out of them. Now we need to see if he can recruit, which really is the bigger question.

*Corey...thats cool, the BS level and haters are getting so deep, its kinda hard to sort the legit from the USC fans...so truce and apologies....the body of my post still stands, though.

And if Carr can get OSU this season, he should be alright.....the loss was bad, no denying (for both teams), But beating the Buckeyes will cover a number of sins. If he doesn't...then it is retirement time. For Weis, the danger game is Navy...we got a 43 game streak going here....messing that up would not be smiled on. And Navy is not as big of pushovers as people like to think. Hopefully, both of our seasons turn around.....you at least have the tools in Michigan, and you might just have gotten the motivator. I'm not sure if Notre Dame will pull anything out of this season. We might be renamed Neutered Dumb.

*Terry, I love your optimism......but the Penn St team we beat last year was trying to figure out where they were going (like us this year), and Morelli made a lot of rookie mistakes. They are a lot more cohesive this season, beat Tennessee to finish last season, and are playing a team with no sense of identity.

We don't have Quinn, Samardzja, McKnight,Walker, Ndukwe or our (mediocre) O-line to depend on. We have newbies at every position, and what could very well be the worst O-line in the Bowl series. I don't like to be negative, but I got to be a realist. This is going to be a long, painful season, and Charlie better recruit up some good linemen, pronto....or next year will be more of the same.

Unless Lloyd Carr beats Ohio State AND wins bowl game, I think he is already fired. They just won't do it during the season.

I don't think Charlie Weiss will be fired even if he has a losing record. For some reason, Irish fans are willing to give him a much longer leash than they gave to Ty Willingham.

First of all, Notre Dame is not gonna lose to Penn State...They didn't last year, and they won't this year...If they do, I'll admit this year is going down the drain...but I still think they can be 8-3...

And second of all, ND won't fire Weis so soon, because his contract is too big to just give up on him...He'll get 5 years at least...

Interesting thought...At this point with the high level of standards that both programs have...It is a strong possibility.
I do think Weis is a lil more secure...but the angry mob with burning pitchforks is gathering outside Carr's house

I don't think it will determine which coach is fired...if that scenario happens and they both drop their first two games, they'd better get their resumes updated.....!

Both coaches have been doing sub-par work with their respective programs for the past few years. You'd think that they would step down and find something else to do with their Saturday afternoons.

I'd hate to think if that really did happen, but as we saw last weekend, nothing's impossible in college football!

NO, unfortunately neither coach will be up for losing their job this season as both their contracts will pay them a lot of dough if they are canned this early. So even if losing seasons occur look for their happy asses next season on the sidelines.
