Use ice (cold compress) to reduce the swelling..then once the swelling has subsided...use heat (hot compress) to help promote healing and to reduce the risk of infection and further inflamation to the area.

I would recommend you see your doctor, just to be on the safe side. I would recommend you put cold/ice on to reduce the swelling, as cold reduces the circulation and reduces inflammation. Also you can try warmth/heat once you get the swelling down, as the heat will probaby feel more comforting, but will not reduce the swelling, as heat promotes circulation. But you can try a combination of the two, but first the cold for the swelling. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Cold compress, and consider seeing a doctor. Three hours is a long time for swelling to stay.

I would ice it. If it just happened that recently ago and it is some kind of sprain then ice it. Maybe tomorrow if it still hurts then try hot compress. Good luck:) try to stay off it and just relax
