In this I mean the small line all the way across the length of the car- which in most cars is there for protection (I thought...) I just have nnoticed that the newer models don't have them - it goes across the car doors and all.

The 07 Camry os a good example. The O6 had the side things and the 07 doesn't

It's probably a matter of styling and asthetics. I presume you mean the door guards that prevent nicks from other cars hitting them.

It makes the cars look more appealing without breaking the body styling lines.

I've seen the new Camrys and know what you're talking about. I'm sure that you can have them installed by an outside custom shop.

It is a way of reducing the cost of the car. That means that there are less parts and less people to put them on.

The auto industry is always looking for ways to cut costs, especially in these days and times.
