Society itself. Family. As a human organism one cannot help but assimilate. We are very adaptable creatures, and there are few with the tenacity and the temerity to dare to be different. It is a natural progression, of course family and school and the observations of the behaviour of peers influence what we learn about behavior or etiquette. Plus, there are different kidns of societies- having lived in 3 different continents, I can tell you that you need to naturally adjust the way you exist and co-exist in society based on where you are living.

My parents and my fath have taught me how to behave.
I strive to live my life in the "do unto others" fashion. If I wouldn't like it if someone did X to me, then I shouldn't do it to them. That's one of God's golden rules.
My parents (my mom in particular) taught me good manners at the table, good phone etiquette and how to act in public.

Sorry that this answer isn't longer, but my behavioral mentors are just basic. :-)

My father, he was extremely strict and i got a belt if i did anything wrong.

Looking back, i believe it was the best thing for me and i just wonder if this 'yob culture' would exist if parents were allowed to still punish their children.

Maybe a controversial opinion but things are not working as they are.

hmmm im not close with my family so not my family. Although they taught me things...it's not really them who did.

I guess myself. Applied what I heard, learned my lessons alone.
