Well, it's a great expression of what everyone feels now and then. Doesn't make it true, but it sure captures the mood.

Life... "is a tale told by an idiot full of sound and fury: I agree. I'm not sure about "Signifying nothing".. That would take a lot of deep thought. My initial feeling is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of purpose in life. Even with as much scientific advancement as humans have made, we still haven't figured out how to live in harmony with our planet. Present society seems like it's building a tower of Babel which is endlessly tall. The motivation initially seems credible, but in the end, the focus is lost with no real goal or end in sight. We place more importance on human life and human comforts than on the bigger picture of what is best for our planet. We are short-sided, selfish beings. It's easy to say it and believe it. It's harder to do anything about it. I'm not there yet.

...I think Shakespeare was thinking of "empty vessels make the most sound"..very prevalent then,as now...."those who speak do not know, those who know do not speak".That phrase also adopted by William Falkner for "The Sound and the Fury"..the Billy Boy one.
