Adaptation can only be done within a small limit. If the environmental changes are not checked we will one day be doomed.

In terms of ozone depletion, where there is a harmful physical effect, we would have to evolve over a long period of time. so there will be increased skin cancer rates etc, and those who have genetic mutations that help protect them will have a higher rate of success with progeny. In terms of global warming changing our coastlines etc, we might do well to remember that sometimes change brings opportunity. Remember the old superman stories where lex luther wanted to blow up the san andreas fault because he had a lot of land on the other side that would instantly become ocean front property? Same idea here, while many losses will occur from global warming, there will also be opportunities and people will adjust, migrate and change behavior to adapt. Humans are very adaptable, very quickly when evolution is not required.

So, buy land in a place that seems just a little too cold right now ;)

Those of us with natural resistance, or higher tolerance, to polluted air, water etc, will have a better chance of surviving childhood and will have more children than someone who is constantly sick from these pollutants. We may not individually adapt, other than to protect ourselves artificially, but our species will adapt.
