Because that's the one consistent plank in their platform.

What a bunch of bull! Name one tax the conservatives have raised on the poor and middle class?
You can't.
The Bush tax cuts lowered taxes for EVERY TAXPAYER! True some people got bigger tax refunds, but only because they were paying a lot more into the system.
Take a look at the IRS Tax Data I've linked to below. Scroll down and see what percentage of income taxes the top percentage of income earners paid. You'll find over time their percentage went UP, while the bottom 50% went down.

What? I don't think I read that right. Conservatives raise taxes? Where and when? The Liberals are the ones who raise my taxes so they can collect welfare. I am with the cop, Brian and RLP on this issue. I also pay 30% in taxes. I think we should have an across the board flat tax for those making upwards of $35,000.00, sound fair to you? Conservatively speaking of course.

Well tax is proportionate to income. Also, look up this thing called the laffer curve. It shows the relationship between level of taxation and tax revenue. If you tax people past a certain point, you actually lose tax revenue.

Thats funny, because the income tax structure in the US has become MORE PROGRESSIVE since Bush's tax cuts were enacted. That means that the "rich" are paying a higher share of total income taxes, even though their share of national income has fallen.
I realize that I will get thumbs down from a few liberals in denial, but at least TRY to see the truth.
BTW, regarding income taxes, the bottom 50% of this country pay NONE.

Huh?
If you want to look to increases on the poor and middle classes, look to the excise taxes and gas taxes that libs love. Look also to state income tax increases, as well as property increases for revenue gainers (all lib favs)
Very few poor people pay income tax.

That's how the rich stay rich. Then they blame the poor for being poor and call them lazy. The working poor work harder than anyone else I know....two or three jobs to put food on the table, never mind any health insurance. They certainly work harder than some CEO making millions. How much work does a CEO do, really? In the meantime, cons blame the poor and illegals for being "lazy" and taking "hand outs." Like anyone could live on welfare anyway.

Hey Brian...you're a top contributor? Apparently your math is alot worse than liberals. Over 50% of the Bush tax cut went to the wealthies 1%. The strenght of conservatives is they know how to effectively bullshit their way through just about anything.

Here is the theory of how this is supposed to work in Reagan's "trickle down (your leg)" economics:
tax breaks for businesses = more money for expansion and investment = more jobs = economic stimulation
the reality, however, is:
tax breaks for businesses = more money for the executives to vacation and and play golf and line their pockets with more $$$$ = greater disparity between wealthy and poor = no positive economic impact (apart from the 1-5% that benefit directly from said tax break)

It's the "trickle down" idea that never worked for Ronny, nor will it work for anyone.
