And many who lost jobs to outsourcing are now living on reduced incomes which means cheaply made goods from countries where production costs are dirt cheap.... The stuff you find in Big Lots and 99 cents stores- most of it isn't made domestically... Blank CDs, tennis shoes, canes- you name it.

Big ticket items like cars and TVs, sure it makes sense to buy American. But for many things, our own stuff is less expensive than something made by a Chinese worker who earns 30 cents a day...

It's a vicious circle.

It's greed, pure greed. The fat cats who run our large corporations are having their products made out of the country to save a few bucks. Those buck go right into the executives pockets in the form of exhorbant salaries and bonuses and perks. They could live on much less but they dont want to. So, they are destroying the country while they get fatter and fatter every day. And, there is absolutely nothing we can do about it because we live in a free society.

Evidently you aren't familiar with the outsourcing problem in the US right now...there is very, very few things made in the USA anymore. We have to buy from foreign nations as it is no longer available in the US.

In Australia, like to US locally produced products tend to be more expensive (due to higher overheads such as higher wages). When the average consumer is out shopping, they are generally thinking about their own financial wellbeing ahead of the financial well being of their country.
