- 40 x + 15 + 120 x = 36 x + 240
80 x - 36 x = 225
44 x = 225
x = 225 / 44 (not a nice number!!)

- 2/3(x) + 1/4 + 2x = 3/5(x) + 4
- 2/3x + 1/4 + 2x = 3/5x + 4
- 2/3x + 2x - 3/5x = 4 - 1/4
-10/15x + 30/15x - 9/15x = 3 3/4
11/15x = 15/4
x = (15/4) / (11/15)
x = 15/4 * 15/11
x = 225/44
x = 5 5/44

Answer: x = 5 5/44

Proof:
- 2/3(225/44) + 1/4 + 2(225/44) = 3/5(225/44) + 4
- 75/22 + 1/4 + 225/22 = 135/44 + 4
- 150/44 + 11/44 + 450/44 = 135/44 + 176/44
311/44 = 311/44

(-2/3) x+1/4+2x=(3/5)x+4
(-2/3+2-3/5)x=4-1/4
[(-10+30-9)/15] x=15/4
(11/15)x=15/4
x=225/44
=4 5/44. ANS.

multiply the whole equation by the LCD to eliminate denominators..
[-2/3(x) + 1/4 + 2x = 3/5(x) + 4][60]
-40x+15+120x=36x+240
transpose and add similar terms
-40x-36x+120x=240-15
44x=225
divide both sides by 44
x=5.11
