Your past should be like the rearview mirror. While facing forward to see the future... you should only occasionally look back to see where you have been. You can't always look in the rearview mirror without fear of hitting what you can't see ahead of you. Don't dwell on the past, use it to always remind you of your mistakes and accomplishments.

I enjoy good memories, but try not to focus on the bad memories. I'm unsure of the future. I'm lost right now. I sure used to forget the past in the brightness of the future. However right now I only have questions about my future, and I know my future depends on what I do today. But I have some mental problems, and now I'm virtually home-bound. I usually enjoy my day, and feel good if I have experience from my past to help someone, I'm 50, but as far as the future???????
Blessed Be

Never forget the past. We are shaped by all the little pieces of memory that made us. If you forgot the stove was hot, you might burn your hands all the time. Study the past, learn from the past, don't dwell on the past and do look to a bright future.

We seldom forget the past and that is normal. Learning from the past is good. Putting the past in the past and not keep bringing it up to now is what needs to be done. It does no good to regret or feel bad or anything about the past. You are not able to change anything abut yesterday so do what you can to make the future better.

Never forget the past!!! History teaches; we prosper and survive by learning from our mistakes and those others make. It doesn't matter how vile the memory is; there is always something to be learned. But do not dwell on the past; instead, look to the future for your hopes and dreams and your history for motivation and guidance. But never forget.

I'm a firm believer in "those that forget their past are destined to repeat it".

It has happened many times over throughout US history and within my own life.

So... Never forget the past, but look to the brighter future.

living in the here and now is so much more productive. The past creates more questions than answers and makes us remember what we are afraid of. to live in the moment is something animals do and you dont see them running around with OCD or depression.
