In 2001 shocking reports surfaced from Gaza of summer schools being organised by Islamic Jihad, which were teaching Palestinian adolescents to become suicide bombers. The Israeli government denounced the camps as evidence that a new generation was being brought up to hate and to kill.

What went unreported was that at a purpose-built barracks in the Negev desert, every summer hundreds of Jewish teenagers from Europe, Mexico and America pay to spend nine weeks saluting, marching, firing guns and otherwise pretending to be soldiers.

Marva, run by the Educational and Youth Corps of the Israel Defence Force and conducted entirely in Hebrew, simulates the basic training of Israeli conscripts for 18-28 year old members of the Diaspora. Dressed in boots and olive fatigues, and obliged to carry an M16 assault rifle at all times, school leavers on gap years do push ups in the dust, perform night marches with laden stretchers.

Wherever people are treated unjustly while the world turns its back on them, you will find no shortage of people willing to do this.

Terrorists need to be defeated, particularly the ones waving the Star of David flag.

There is a very clear difference between what those camps in Israel and those in Gaza.

Namely the camps in Israel the children are not trained to be solders, they are not in any way considered a part of the IDF, and if at a latter date they want to join the IDF they get no credit for what they did in a camp.

In Gaza on the other hand they are actually training these children to be used in combat operations, and they are considered to be part of the organization they trained under.

We have the same types of camps in the US, no one would consider the participants to be part of the military.

Yes, this training is for anyone - not just Jews - who would like to enlist in the Israeli army. As you will no doubt appreciate, Israel has to have a good army, as she is surrounded by hostile countries who have attacked her on three occasions. And of course, there is the ongoing problem of terrorism.

It is tragic that both Palestinians and Israelis suffer so much and one hopes for peace in the near future.

Best idea so far. I have always admired the Jews for their cleverness but this tactic confirms it. Be prepared for anything because anything can happen just like Murphy's Law. I don't see any reason why ppl should not be trained to defend themselves whilst on the other hand their enemies are training to kill them some day. If I was in their shoes, I would train them to kill rather than to defend as the saying goes, offence is better than defence. I know that it sounds cruel and bizarre but it is in reality as to what is going on in the middle east. Life which is so precious to us means little to the Islamics because they have been indoctrinated on the idea that heaven and 20 maidens await them when they blow themselves and some infidels into smithereens. There are no solutions for this kind of madness which can only be stopped by a bomb of all bombs.

The more I read, the more I see. I can only see this world being divided 2 ways. Our way and the muslim way. They can not live together or mingle. It doesn't work and will not work. If we all want peace we need total segregation for it to work with lines that cannot be crossed.

Look at it this way.

He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword.

If they want to play soldiers, then they accept they will die, but not like soldiers, just the scum that they are.
