I grew up in South Melbourne, and have never stopped following my team. I wonder though, if anybody agrees that the West Coast - Sydney thing just aint gonna happen this year?

Who will the 2 teams be on that "one day in Septrmber?"

Adelaide are good enough although "B" has a question saying that most of Adelaides best players should retire and therefore she has no knowledge of the game whatsoever!
Adelaide, West Coast and Sydney are the only finals hardened teams in the finals - Hawthorn and Collingwood have hit the wall and won't last. Kangaroos, port and Geelong havent had much pressure football this year and may struggle. The double chance gives them the edge.
Adelaide is the only team in history to have won the premiership from outside the top 4 and is a serious challenger given that they have finally got their good players back from injury and playing well, they are rested unlike the other stars of the competition who have had hard seasons so in that regard, Adelaide has the edge. The smoky has to be the kangaroos. They are an unknown enigma. Port I think will choke again and if history is any indication, so too will geelong. It may come down to Adelaide, west coast or sydney versus geelong if they can sustain their form - Its so open this year and I cant wait to se how it all unfolds

Geelong are so dodgy, not really finals prepared. I just think that North will have to kick 25 goals to win on Sunday. The Geelong midfield will get the clearances even though McIntosh will get the taps. A Sydney win will pit them against the Port-WCE loser I think. Too much ground for any of the 5-8 seeded club to come through to get to the MCG. I hope it is Geelong, I think against WCE unless that is a prelim final matchup. The Cats must prove to me they won't choke in a final. Maybe Geelong can get even for the 1992 and 1994 chokes when the Cats had the better side, but Malcolm couldn't get us over those days. I hope Gaz Sr., Billy, Bazza and all the others who suffered through those bad 89, 92, 94 and 95 Grand Finals get to help celebrate a premiership. Sam Newman, Bobby Davis, Polly Farmer, Bill Goggin, et. al need to be able to celebrate also, after 44 years of disappointments.

Yes there are 7 teams capable of beaten Geelong in the Grand Final.
But there is one important factor you have over looked, first Geelong have to make the Grand Final.
This is finals footy, forget the previous 22 weeks, this is a whole new ball game.
And for my tip, don't under estimate Sydney, they thrive on challenges.

My thoughts are that Geelong will win it this year, but i'm not sure who they will play.

At the moment i'd say the GF will be between either
Geelong and Port
or
Geelong and Sydney

In the meantime, it should be a great Finals campaign, and i hope my beloved Hawks can make more than just a one week appearance.

I am really hoping to see a victorian Grand Final, we need one after all this time. I think Geelong will take it from North Melbourne.

Geelong is looking good, but it could be anyone in the top 4 that takes it out. Geelong deserves to win, but, unfortunately, that isn't enough.
