Intense painful pressure and wanting to push, like taking a doo doo but 10 times more intense, and pushing it out the front.

I guess you get off on pain, but I will humor you. I have had one natural labor with no meds, this time I am going to have the sense to get an epidural.

The pressure was unbelieveable. Try having someone take their hands and push down on your lower abdomen as hard as they can. I had what people call "back labor" another reason for an epidural. The pain is intense cramping and pressure. I read once that intense menstral cramps is like multiplying night time leg cramps two or three times and putting them in your lower abdomen. Intense labor is multiplying those cramps by 50 to 100 or more and you have contractions. Your pelvis has to seperate to allow the baby to pass through. That is also pain. You did not ask about delivery so I will stop there

Lets see, I was in labor for two and a half days, and then they finally figured out that I was too small to have the baby naturally and prepared me for a c-section. It hurt like heck up until they gave me the spinal block and then I was numb from the mid of my torso down to my toes. Before the section it hurt like you wouldn't believe. I thought my insides were going to explode and I would go splat on the wall.

But that's just me.

Why you wanna know this anyhow? You like hearing of people's pain or you preparing to have a baby?

ok i went into labour at the wrong place-my dads house he he he. well i was overdue and due to be induced the next day, so we had sex. ten minutes after sex i was in the bathroom. dont mean to be gross but it felt like i needed a sh*t! (you did ask for details). well anyway it didnt happen. then i started getting really bad back ache. imagine being hit in the back by shall we say a hummer? then there was waves of abdominal pain and i felt hot and sick and in a lot of pain. i wanted a bath.
so dad and my fella had to keep running up and downstairs heating water up in the kettle and in pans as his water heating system was crap. and i got a bath about 8inches deep. hopeless. the pains remained in the same areas but worsened, and by 2.20am i was on my way to hospital. they tried to send me home. i told them if they didnt give me some f in pain relief then i would give them something to be in hospital for.
birthing pool didnt work. gas and air didnt work. had an injection of pethidine and it still bloody hurt. the actual pushing bit, i screamed like i have never screamed before in my life. i think i discovered my inner demon like something out of the exorcist. but once it was over i was so tired. and i had stitches and it was so weird - they gave me an anaestetic and i could feel every single stitch they did, but no pain. weird.

Oh.
It's like an intense shooting pain right up your you-know-where, mingled wih REALLY bad belly ache and an enormous urge to push.
It's horrific; don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Ya know those small, forked garden tools? Well, imagine that the baby has one of those in his/her hand and, as you're trying to push the baby out, he/she is embedding that little claw tool in your insides trying not to come out.

I only have ONE child!

It starts out with cramps (like when you have the runs) & ends up as though you have a large knife in your gut & someone is twisting it. That's why I only have one.

Take your bottom lip & stretch it over your head until it touches the nape of your neck. That'll give you a good idea.

All I can say is, imagine your body is being pulled in two opposite directions....

Yeah, it feels like you're being torn apart....and yet, some of us go back again and again ha!
