I'm Celtic-American or Euro-American, definitely not white.

I suppose first you have to define what you mean by persons of color- are you talking about black people? I am of Indian origin and I consider myself a person of color- one of the brownies in fact. But for black people, I think African American is pretty kosher these days.
You know the funny thing is even though saying "black" may not be politically incorrect, I have never met a black person who objects to the term. I have actually never met a black person who prefers to be called "African American"

I think the term Black is most accurate and descriptive. My rationale for that is by way of example; If I identify myself as African-American you know what I mean even though I have never been to Africa, but someone like Charlize Theron is from Africa but you would be confused and maybe even misled if she listed herself as African-American.

it's a handfull of assholes in DC that keep changing things.

First we had our own names, then THEY came and we became INDIANS, been INDIANS for hundreds of years, now they say we're 'native american".

All my paper work, CDIB, everything says "INDIAN" right down to the Rancheria turn off sign.

It's good enough for my elders, good enough for me. INDIAN.

The Hindu's don't even call themselves "indian", they call themselves Hindi, or punjabi.
