I mean in terms of the other partner's attitude, feelings, responsibility, cheating, parental duties, etc. What is you expect from your boyfriend which you don't from your future husband and vice versa. Is a husband conceptually different from a boyfriend (except in legislative affairs)?

It depends on your beliefs really. For me, the difference between a boyfriend and a husband is a husband is someone who's promised to be around a lot longer. There's a commitment and longevity that's expected with the husband, than there is with a boyfriend. You've also tied all of your assets together, and this can be a really big deal if one partner is better off than the other. Other than that, I don't see any difference between a long term boyfriend and a husband in terms of feelings, cheating, duties, etc. Short term boyfriends are a different matter all together.

Of course some people who are religious see a wedding ceremony as swearing a promise to God that you have chosen this person to be your one and only. Others see it as a merger. It depends on you and your partners attitudes, which should hopefully match, and if they don't you should seriously talk about it.
